I recently received an email from my mother with a link to a blog called One World, One Heart. A woman named Lisa Swifka is the author of this blog, as well as the host of this worldwide blogging event that is taking place January 19-February 12. Rather than me trying to explain it all to you, I'll share an excerpt from Lisa, the creator of One World-One Heart:
"The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way...This is more than wanting to win something.......that is only the means.......in the end it's about finding kindred spirits. Someone who may be fairly new to blogging, not sure how to navigate, find others and have others find them....Some are long time bloggers and in some cases well known in the art community. Whatever the case it brings all of them together...We are not solving the worlds problems nor are we curing anything nor are we changing the world. We are merely generating a closer community between humans through blogging."

I am so excited to have just started my first little garden! I have just planted some kale, broccoli, basil, beets, and lettuce. I haven't done gardening since I was a child, living on a 350 acre farm in the hills of Tennessee... plowing the soil with our horses, spending hours planting rows and rows of every vegetable you could imagine... collecting earth worms, and walking barefoot in the rich black soil. Truly a farm experience that I will remember for the rest of my life! My little garden here is a small one, but its a good start and I plan to expand it so that I can soon harvest fresh, organic veggies daily from my garden! Yum!
I found these awesome vintage milk bottle caps recently and decided to make some funky earrings...I love how they turned out! I've just listed some in my Etsy store... check em' out!
I will leave you with a poem from Rumi:
"In your light I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest,
where no one sees you,
but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art."
"Lost Child"
Please remember to RSVP by emailing me if you would like to attend! A bit of snacks, wine, and art...what more could you ask for?

"Wistful Thinking" (acrylics on canvas)
Jan 8, 2009

And then of course I get tempted to tweak the colors a bit in photoshop...:)
I finally have been able to do some painting! I always feel a bit empty when days go by when I do no creating whatsoever, so I had lots of fun doing this latest piece! I've been doing more with mixed medias lately, and I just love it. It adds a whole other dimension and feeling to the finished work. I've just added this one to my Etsy shop!
"Mother Shelter"
There is a candle in your heart,
ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul,
ready to be filled.
You feel it, don't you?
You feel the separation
from the Beloved.
Invite Him to fill you up,
embrace the fire.
Remind those who tell you otherwise that
Love
comes to you of its own accord,
and the yearning for it
cannot be learned in any school.

"Looking out my kitchen window..."
