It's on a daily basis that my little French bulldog Cash puts a big smile on my face, and warms my heart. Ever since my husband and I brought him home to join our little family he has been such a joy to have around, and I couldn't imagine what it would be like not to! So it makes me feel just a tad guilty, when this morning while going through his little vet book to see when he was due for his next shots, I saw that I missed his birthday this month! I know... what kind of mommy am I? It was on the 2nd of September, so I am officially really, REALLY late.
Since he is on a raw food diet (which has done wonders for his coat- he doesn't shed at all! And not to mention, it has put a stop to all, ahem, gas... which Frenchies are known for letting out on a regular basis!) I am thinking rather than a birthday cake (who does that anymore) I'm gonna get him a big juicy steak to knaw on tonight...I might just stick a candle in it to make it extra special. In case you were wondering, me being a vegetarian and all- yes, it is VERY hard to bring myself to buy meat for my dog, and even more to watch him eat it (and sometimes regurgitate...yuck.) but it is a far better feeling knowing that the little guy is getting raw, healthy foods rather than the processed dry kibbles that are full of grains, and things that really aren't necessary for a dogs health. You may or may not disagree with me, but if you are an animal lover yourself (a raw food diet does wonders for cats, AND dogs) I'd highly recommend you checking out this website...it won me over! http://www.barfworld.com
Anyways, I didn't mean to turn Cash's birthday announcement into a raw food diet FAQ, so I'll share a few pictures I took this week of the birthday boy himself.
I have to mention, this beautiful woolen jumper is hand-crafted in Wellington New Zealand by the very talented Rachael. Her Etsy store is called "Mr Soft Top" and is full of beautiful hand-knit dog jerseys.
Well, that's all for now...I'm off to give little Cash another cuddle before I head to the office. Happy birthday Cashie!!!

Cash is just too cute. Love his coat and big smile too! I know what you mean about a raw diet. I have 3 greyhounds (retired racers). Two of them had either stomach problems and or food allergies. I switched to raw and all symptons are gone. We use Barf diet along with several others already prepared raw diets. My third greyt does fine on a high protein organic dry food. Could not afford three on raw. Wish I could afford to put him on raw too.
He's just so cute Shariyah! Raw food is great for people too! I eat it! ;D
There are some great sites in NZ who sell organic raw food for pets but I guess the best thing is to just get the stuff and make it yourself. I also feed my cat meat, chicken actually as she won't touch red meat, and I just get over it. As cats and dogs are not meant to be vegans or vegetarians, it's instinctive for them to eat meat. It's not necessary for us and even detrimental to our health! Hope he enjoys his steak. And wish him happy first birthday from me! :D xxxx
I had to check in and see this little Frenchie--my daughter's French bulldog (Bob) has terrible allergies--they're keeping it under control though. I'm telling you these 2 could be twins--he has the same coloring as Bob, and Bob likes to wear clothes too :)

Oh My Gosh! Cash is just getting cuter and cuter (is that possible?)! I just love how he cocks his head-and that sweater, well...so cute! In his first pic it looks like he has a white gotee (I don't think that's how you spell that). I LOVE your script writing on you blog!!!! Very interesting about the raw foods diet. Sounds like it would be healthier for him...sounds like a lot of extra work though...but since he is your only child (right now)maybe you have the patience. Love you!
